Frequently asked questions

How do I request a quote?

Create an account (username and password) or sign in with Google, then open Get a quote. After you submit, use Your orders or the private Messages & Quotes link in your email to talk with me.

What files can I send?

STL, 3MF, STEP (.step/.stp), OBJ or ZIP — or skip the file and describe your idea. You can upload up to 10 files, 64 MB each and 150 MB in total. Bigger files? Email me.

I don't have a 3D file. Can you still help?

Yes — no experience needed. Use Describe your idea on the form (a short sentence is enough). I'll reply with ideas or a quote in Messages & Quotes (Your orders, or the private link in your email).

How much does it cost?

Design work (when you need a model made or adapted): $5 for easy/simple designs, $20 for intricate custom designs. Printing is quoted separately. Nothing is paid on this site — you pay by PayPal invoice only if you approve the quote.

Printing itself is quoted on its own, based on the material, size, print time and quantity. Asking for a quote costs nothing and doesn't commit you to anything.

How long does it take?

It depends on the job and what's already in the queue. Every quote gives a ship-by date (or ready-for-pickup date). If I can't make it, I'll tell you before that date and you can cancel for a full refund. If you have a deadline, put it on the form.

How do I pay?

Nothing is paid on this website. If you approve the quote, I send you a PayPal invoice, which you can pay with a card or a PayPal account. Printing starts after the invoice is paid (for larger jobs the quote may ask for a 50% deposit instead, with the rest due before shipping or pickup). Illinois sales tax is added where required.

Do you ship, or can I pick up?

Both. Choose on the form. Shipped orders go with tracking to the shipping address in your PayPal payment (US addresses only for now; ask if you need something sent elsewhere), and shipping is listed in your quote. Local pickup is in Joliet, Illinois at the same item price; we arrange the time and place by email.

What's the biggest part you can print?

220 × 220 × 250 mm (about 8.6 × 8.6 × 9.8 inches). Larger models can sometimes be split into pieces and joined. If not, I'll let you know.

Which material should I pick?

PLA: Crisp detail and lots of colors. Great for display pieces, prototypes and indoor parts. Softens in high heat, like a hot car. PETG: Tougher than PLA, with a little flex and better heat and outdoor resistance. A good pick for functional parts. PA6-CF: Carbon-fiber-filled nylon. Stiff, strong and heat-resistant, for demanding functional parts. Not sure? Say what the part is for and I'll suggest one.

What colors do you have?

Tell me the color you want on the form and I'll confirm what's available in your quote. Each part is printed in one color.

How accurate are the prints?

These are FDM (filament) prints: you'll see fine layer lines, and sizes can vary slightly from the file. If something has to fit another part, say so in the notes. A quick test print of the critical area is often worth it.

What if something is wrong with my print?

Orders are custom-made, so they're non-refundable except for problems I caused. If there's a defect I caused, or it arrives damaged, email me within 14 days with photos and I'll reprint it or refund you. Read the full refund policy.

Is my file kept private?

Yes. Your files are used only to quote and make your order, stored outside the public website, and deleted afterward (or sooner if you ask). See the privacy policy.

Is there anything you won't print?

Yes: any weapon or weapon part (including all firearm parts, frames and receivers, magazines, suppressor or conversion parts), parts where failure could hurt someone, 3D scans of real people, and anything illegal or that infringes someone else's rights. I can turn down any job. See the terms.

Who can order?

Anyone 18 or older. The quote form asks you to confirm your age.
